Located in the heart of Bucharest, at the intersection of Calea Victoriei and Elisabeta Boulevard, the Corinthia Grand Hotel du Boulevard brings 19th-century refinement back to life in a contemporary format. This Class A historic landmark, built in 1867 by architect Alexandru Orăscu, has been fully restored and reimagined under the vision of Niro Investment Group and is operated by the prestigious Corinthia Hotels chain.
The project involved a complex transformation of this Belle Époque symbol into an ultra-luxury boutique hotel, preserving its original elegance through masterfully restored details and enhancing them with modern accents.
Glas Expert was selected as a partner for the supply and installation of glass elements in a project with exceptionally complex requirements, involving extremely precise interventions within the context of a historic structure.
Part of our intervention involved the design, execution, and installation of the glass components for the skylight – a spectacular architectural feature that brings light into the interior space and highlights the elegance of the Belle Époque in a contemporary interpretation.
For this project, Glas Expert delivered a complete package of customized solutions, tailored to the architectural complexity and aesthetic demands of the historic building. We produced and delivered 4 mm ultra-clear chemically satin-finished glass, laminated 4.2.4 with matte EVA foil – an elegant option specifically chosen to blend with the hotel’s refined atmosphere. Each glass element was fabricated based on a high-precision 3D scan performed with PRODIM equipment, followed by the digital templating of over 270 individual pieces, each faithfully adapted to the existing geometry. The detailed execution design enabled the perfect integration of the glass within the historic structural framework, while the cutting, CNC processing, and lamination were carried out using state-of-the-art technology. The final installation, completed on the existing structure, strictly adhered to all requirements related to tolerances, quality, and aesthetics, ensuring a discreet yet essential presence in the restored architectural ensemble.
