Glass Bending
Glass bending involves the controlled deformation of the glass under the effect of temperature.
Glass bending involves the controlled deformation of the glass under the effect of temperature.
The entire heating and cooling process is performed according to predefined graphs. The the initial ‘heating and cooling curve’ parameters of the glass are carefully set by our specialists, in order to obtain both the contoured design and the glass characteristics (transparency, hardness, image deformation, etc.). The production of curved glass depends on various factors that are all related to each other, such as the type, thickness and quality of the glass, size, bending angle, radius of curvature, type of curvature, quality of the material from which the mold is made etc.
Types of glass bending
Bending of the glass can be done according to the mold and your requirements, as follows:
– cylindrical curvature
– spherical curvature;
– conical curvature;
– parabolic curvature;
– artistic curvature;
Applications for curved glass
Contemporary designers are always looking for modern materials and atypical forms. Curved glass finds applications in:
– outdoor architectural installations with curved thermal insulation glass;
– furniture and furniture parts (glass doors, furniture components);
– decorative elements or for the advertising industry;
– furniture component parts in the FMCG industry (refrigerated display cabinets, refrigerators);
– railings and curved structural elements for supporting staircases;
– shower enclosures and glass doors;
– office space partitions;
– protective glass for revolving doors;
– automatic doors;
– Canopies and skylights;
– shop windows;
– glass curtain walls and windows.
Available Radius of curvature
The production of a mold depends very much on the number of heating / cooling cycles it has to bear. We have a variety of mold construction materials to choose from, depending on the number of glass pieces it will be used to create: metal, ceramic, stainless steel, refractory stainless steel, etc.
Cylindrical curve molds available at any time with the following radii: R400mm , R-600mm, R-715mm, R-815mm.
Minimum data required to define the curved glass
The calculation for designing and executing a cylindrical bending mold is based on the following details that we need to know: the type and thickness of the glass, the radius of curvature, chord length, and the height of the arch.
