European Safety and Security Standards require that railings be an effective safety guard against falling. According to these standards, in order to provide this type of protection, the glass must …
EVOLAM K is a laminated glass made up of one or more EVOLAM, EVODUR, EVODUR, EVODUR HST layers of the same or different thicknesses, with one, two or more coloured, translucent or opaque sheets used as the lamination film.
EVOLAM K can also be manufactured from the combination of EVOLAM with EVOLAM, EVODUR with EVODUR HS or EVODUR HST.
Like EVOLAM laminated glass, EVOLAM K is an EVA-coated (Etilen Vinyl Acetate) film, which is UV and moisture-resistant.
EVOLAM K can only be used indoors, and the best expression of a chosen colour is particularly evident when using glass with a low iron content (ultra-clear, Low Iron).
EVOLAM K with EVODUR with EVODUR HS or EVODUR HST far more resistant to mechanical stress than non tempered glass. Choosing different configurations and thicknesses can achieve various levels of mechanical stress resistance, and therefore various levels of security and safety.
Depending on the type of glass used and whether it is tempered or not, EVOLAM K may or may not be further drilled or processed after the laminating procedure. For example, if EVOLAM K includes EVODUR or EVODUR HS, no further holes or cuts can be made. On the other hand if not-tempered glass variants are used, EVOLAM K may be processed after the laminating process.
EVOLAM K has a wide range of uses and adds an aesthetic bonus to any glazing project:
Glass beams – glass beams are created to provide structural support for various installations such as skylights, glass floors, floorboards etc. They are made from either tempered or semi-tempered versions of EVOLAM K, the thicknesses and width of which are determined by the load they will have to support. For a full colour display, Glas Expert recommends choosing ultraclear (low-iron) glass. Otherwise, in the case of clear glass, changes in the selected shades or hues in the final EVOLAM K product may occur.
Glass floors – alternating colours in a glass floor, in concert with a harmonious stereotomy, can result in a spectacular aesthetic. EVOLAM K glass floors, consisting of three glass sheets – two to carry the load plus one for safety. In addition to those required by the load calculations regarding strength, size, type of glass and floor fixings, EVOLAM K can include two, three or more glass layers.
Glass railings – designed to provide the right degree of protection, EVOLAM K railings are made in varying configurations and thicknesses. Depending on the mechanical stress the assembly is required to withstand, configurations generally start from EVOLAM K 88.2, EVOLAM K 88.4 and can go up to EVOLAM K 1515.4.
Office glass partitions – We generally produce thicknesses and configurations of 55.2 or 66.2 but others are possible. In these cases, we use EVOLAM K to improve and increase the visual and safety aspects respectively.
EVOLAM K LAMINATED GLASS VARIETIES
EVOLAM K’s rich colour palette is achieved by overlapping one, two, or up to five coloured interlayers in the laminating process.
There are 15 opaque base colours, 9 translucent colours and 2 types of clear interlayer, the combinations of which can generate hundreds of translucent, opaque or semi-opaque shades. In addition to coloured lamination, EVOLAM K can also contain ceramic printing, ceramic enamel areas or various other inserts.
By combining them, thousands of permutations are available, ranging from subtle transparent and translucent colours to opaque.
Maximum size: 4800 x 2500 mm
Maximum thickness: 200 mm
Maximum weight: 650 kg
The type of glass used for your EVOLAM DESIGN will dictate whether or not further drilling or machining can be done after the laminating process. For example, if your EVOLAM K includes EVODUR or EVODUR HS glass, no further holes or cuts can be made after the laminating process. Whereas if only non-tempered glass variants are used in the EVOLAM K, further processing is possible post laminating process.
